Our youngest daughter was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma when she was 16 months old. Our families entire world was turned upside and changed forever. All it took was for the doctor to say one word "cancer". Over the next 72 hours we made alot of decisions regarding what was in the best interest for our daughter. Several weeks later the idea of building a car to came to mind, weaving together racing legend and cancer awareness to help educate people. These days everyone knows someone who is fighting cancer of some form. If this car accomplishes what I have in mind, at shows people will be able to relate with the idea of a lightning fast race car taking the lead lap against cancer. At childrens hospitals the kids will be able to sit inside and dream of the day they are behind the wheels of their own race car. People of all ages, races and walks of life will be able to enjoy this race inspired CANCER AWARENESS CORVETTE.

Our baby girl. This was taken in December 2010 after Honor had her eye removed. Dr. Carol Sheilds performed the operation at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. 80% of Honors' right eye was a cancerous mass, the only way to save her life was to have surgery. We found out on Friday Nov. 5th that Honor may have cancer, by Monday Nov. 8th our fear was confirmed.... Wednesday Nov 10th Wills Eye Hosp. removed the eye and saved our baby girl. From there we where sent to AI DuPont Childrens Hospital in Wilmington, DE. Dr. G. Griffin told us Honor would have to go thru 6 months of chemo to make sure that all of the cancer cells are gone. The oncologist explained med ports to us and how Honor would recieve her treatments. 3 weeks after her first chemo her hair started thinning and came out, mom was devasted.
Tuesday March 1st 2011. Honor gets her prosthetic, it's the time in 4 months we see her this happy. That evening she played in the tub and laughed when she looked into the mirror. Thank you so very much to Tara McNamara (Ocularist) |
